Finnish born artist Roosa Laine (2002) is a multidisciplinary designer interested in questioning the current norms and breaking the current status quo. Laine creates an atmosphere and a world around her creations, as her work consists of both performance, set design, styling, as well as video, photography and print. Laine gravitates towards the act of collecting within her work, and likes to draw references from the world around her. Many of her references are ironic and highlight the nature of absurdity when it comes to growing up as a girl. She draws a lot of inspiration from her own childhood, which consisted of constant moving of houses and basketball. Laine’s work focuses on themes of womanhood and sisterhood, and the interconnectedness when it comes to being a woman in the current landscape.

Laine’s work consists of archiving of work and media, as well as curation of new spaces. Laine works as a director of her own world and the world she creates. She is fascinated by the act of performing and being in control of your own perception of the world. She views the world as a stage to play and experiment with. Laine highlights and creates contrast between things and brings the viewers attention to the ideas and concepts that often go unnoticed. The connection within her work is important to her and everything in her universe can be interlinked to one another.
